Processing Times — What to Expect

We know that waiting can feel stressful. Here we explain exactly what happens at every stage, so there are no surprises. Take a deep breath — we are here with you.

What Happens After You Finish the Questionnaire

Once you complete the questionnaire, your application goes through a careful, multi-step process. Here is exactly what happens at each stage:

We Receive Your Details

Expected timeframe: Immediate

As soon as you complete the questionnaire, our team receives your information. You will receive a confirmation email right away so you know everything has arrived safely.

A Helpful Note: Check your email inbox (and your spam folder, just in case) for the confirmation.

Our Team Reviews Your Information

Expected timeframe: Within 24 hours

A real person from our team carefully reviews every detail you provided. We check for typos, missing information, and any inconsistencies. If anything needs a small correction, we will contact you by email before proceeding.

A Helpful Note: This is our "safety net" — we catch mistakes so you don't have to worry.

Your ESTA Application Is Sent

Expected timeframe: After review is complete

Once we are satisfied that everything is accurate and complete, your ESTA application is prepared and sent to US authorities on your behalf. We handle all the technical details.

A Helpful Note: You don't need to do anything at this stage. We take care of everything.

US Authorities Process Your Application

Expected timeframe: Usually within 72 hours

The US Government reviews your application. Most ESTA decisions are made within 72 hours, though some may take longer. We monitor the status for you.

A Helpful Note: Some applications receive a response in minutes, while others may take up to 72 hours. Both are completely normal.

You Receive Your Result

Expected timeframe: As soon as we receive it

The moment we receive your ESTA result from US authorities, we send you a clear, easy-to-read email with your result and what it means. If your ESTA is approved, we include instructions on what to do next.

A Helpful Note: We explain everything in plain English — no confusing codes or technical terms.

When Should I Complete My ESTA?

We recommend completing your ESTA questionnaire as early as possible, and at least 72 hours before your planned departure. Here is a helpful timeline:

  • Ideal: Complete the questionnaire 2 to 4 weeks before your trip. This gives plenty of time for review, processing, and any corrections if needed.
  • Recommended minimum: At least 72 hours (3 days) before your departure. This allows time for our review and for US authorities to process your application.
  • Last minute: While some ESTAs are processed quickly, we strongly recommend against waiting until the last moment. Unexpected delays can happen, and we want your travel plans to go smoothly.

How Long Is an Approved ESTA Valid?

Once approved, your ESTA is typically valid for two years from the date of approval, or until your passport expires — whichever comes first.

During this period, you can travel to the United States multiple times without needing to reapply, as long as each visit is 90 days or less.

When do I need a new ESTA? You will need to apply again if: your passport expires, your passport details change (new passport), your name changes, your country of citizenship changes, or your answers to any of the eligibility questions change.

What Do the Different Results Mean?

Authorisation Approved

Your ESTA has been approved. You are authorised to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. We will send you all the details you need.

Authorisation Pending

Your application is still being reviewed by US authorities. This is normal and usually resolves within 72 hours. We will notify you as soon as we receive an update.

Travel Not Authorised

Unfortunately, your ESTA was not approved. This does not necessarily mean you cannot travel to the US — it means you may need to apply for a visa instead. We will provide guidance on your next steps.

Feeling anxious about the wait? That is completely understandable. Most applications are processed smoothly and quickly. If you have any concerns while waiting, please contact us — we are here to help.
